About Dimitar
My name is Dimitar Ginev and I have been playing tennis at the amateur level for over 30 years and have several years of experience teaching private clients. For the past 7–8 years, I have personally coached and developed my son, Ivo, from a young junior player into a nationally competitive player.
Under my coaching, he reached #2 in the Chicago District, #12 in the Midwest, and #130 nationally in his age division. He was also recognized as one of the most improved junior players in the Chicago District.
That experience has given me extensive hands-on knowledge of stroke development, footwork, practice design, match strategy, tournament preparation, conditioning, and long-term player development. I understand that improving a tennis player is about much more than teaching strokes—it is about identifying weaknesses, designing the right practice environment, and helping skills transfer into competition.
My coaching style is analytical, patient, and highly individualized. I focus on helping players understand both what they need to improve and why, while building solid fundamentals and better decision-making on the court.

My lessons are tailored to each player’s level, goals, and playing style. I focus on building solid technique, efficient footwork, consistency, shot selection, and point construction rather than simply feeding balls. Sessions can include technical drills, live-ball work, serve and return practice, movement patterns, and competitive point play.
I especially enjoy working with juniors who want to improve their match performance, but I also work with adults of all levels. My goal is to identify the few changes that will make the biggest difference and then create drills and situations that help those improvements transfer into real matches.
