About Paulo

I help people improve to be stronger through gymnastics, weight training and meditation, to be more productive and enjoy life to the full. We create honest training, without recourse to contraptions, drugs, miracle supplements or other panaceas. We use the most effective tools and exercises that have been on the market for over 100 years to help people who live in the real world (they work, have family, children, struggle with time management problems and are not marvels of human genetics), to avoid that they are deceived by devices, appliances, supplements, food and other solutions that just take money out of their pocket. I started as a fitness coach at the age of 17 in football at CCD da Segurança Social in Porto. Almost at the same time that I enrolled at Ginásio Martinez (Porto) almost 30 years ago to recover from spinal surgery. I stayed, I believed in Santa Claus and I was deceived like many by the fitness industry, training like those who took steroids, eating like them but without having the juice inside. I have been involved in this fitness and exercise industry for so many years that I ended up training thousands of people of all ages, from sedentary to high-performance athletes, always studying hard and trying to help people who sleep little, eat poorly and occasionally go to the gym. It is for these that I write, it is for the teachers who lead these people. The others who train every day, sleep 8 hours a day and religiously prepare their meals, are a find. And even those would benefit from some reflections that you can find in my articles. I have 4 children, two twins (only 3 years old), I drive 40 to 60 hours a month, I work 10 hours a day, I'm a normal guy and at 50 I have had to recover from many personal, physical, social and psychological problems like each and every human being. As such, I continue to train, learning from mistakes, experimenting with myself first, then applying them to others, or simply eliminating those solutions. Without arrogance I say that my strong point is the integration I make of the various areas of knowledge (psychology, sociology, biology, anatomy, marketing…) necessary to intervene as a trainer / educator, using physical exercise to change people's behavior in the sense they have a healthier lifestyle to better enjoy the days that pass here. Some of my absolute records were recently broken, others have been there for a while. Aware that age interferes with athletic performance, metabolism, recovery, and that the physical blunders of the past compromise current training and make us constantly adapt, I am still active, fighting against the absurd idea that a personal trainer should hang on to. boots like a footballer at 30. I must say that it is around that age that we are ready to start training someone properly, since having a degree, a master's and a doctorate, I consider theoretical knowledge not applied, something of little isolated value. Therefore, it takes time and dedication to do something very well done, which by the way is our passion. Aware that I have not repeated a year 10 or 20 times, it is with a mix of experience, science and art that I write these reflections on training in general, gym training for human beings who intend to continue training and train in the next 30 or 40 years.
