About Chanda

Hi! I'm Chanda, and I'm so glad you're here. When I'm not teaching, I'm a mom to two wonderful kids — one in high school and one in college — so I understand firsthand what it's like to juggle school, growth, and everything in between, at very different stages of life.
Professionally, I hold a doctorate in education and have spent over two decades working in Texas public education. I've taught high school and middle school English, Communications, Debate, Rhetoric, and Speech, and I've also worked in school leadership, which gave me a broader view of how students learn and grow over time, not just within a single lesson.
I got into tutoring because I genuinely love helping people find their voice, whether that's a student building confidence in conversation, a professional polishing their communication skills, or someone preparing for a big exam or interview. I believe learning works best when it doesn't feel stressful, so I bring patience, humor, and a lot of encouragement into every session.
Outside of teaching, I'm usually shuttling kids to activities, cheering from the sidelines, or squeezing in a good book when I get a rare quiet moment. I bring that same warmth and steadiness to my lessons — I want you to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and just being yourself while we work toward your goals together.

About the lesson

My Teaching Method
I start every tutoring relationship the same way: by meeting with you to understand your specific goals, whether that's conversational fluency, exam prep, public speaking confidence, or polishing academic writing. From there, I build a personalized plan tailored to what you actually want to achieve — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum. At every session, I check for understanding throughout and adjust pacing in real time, so lessons never move too fast or too slow for where you are.

A Typical Lesson
We begin with a quick check-in on your progress and goals, move into focused practice on the skill of the day (speaking, grammar, debate structure, presentation delivery, etc.), and close with a recap and clear next steps so you always know what we're building toward.

What Sets Me Apart
I hold a doctorate in education and bring over two decades of experience in public education, including years spent teaching high school and middle school English, Communications, Debate, Rhetoric, and Speech. I've also worked in school leadership, which means I understand curriculum design and learning progressions at a deep level — not just how to teach a lesson, but how to structure a path toward mastery. I create a relaxed, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions, while still making real, measurable progress.
