About Marieke
I hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of Cambridge, and studied comparative literature at bachelor's level, which included creative writing and literature at New York University. I am a published author, in fiction and nonfiction, and am happy to help with academic subjects and essays, as well as creative writing. I offer a warm and encouraging environment, where I give you the tools you need to think and write confidently and creatively.

I have experience tutoring children and adults in English, essay writing, sociology and philosophy. I have supervised university students at the University of Cambridge, lectured in Sociology and creative writing, and have tutored students individually in essay writing. I have tutored children privately, in English, and at schools in groups, in English, Sociology, Philosophy and IB subjects. My approach is collaborative, trying to encourage creativity in thinking and writing, while offering clear guidelines that will help you improve your writing and critical thinking. My lessons are 50 minutes long.
