About Allison

Hi! I'm a second language Spanish speaker with a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics. What's linguistics? It's the study of how and why we speak the way we do, and my particular interest here lies in the social factors that affect our speech. That's right--who you are and how you live definitely affects how you speak!

On the language teaching side, I have a decade of experience in the college classroom and small-group tutoring. My students love my interactive classes, low-stress learning environment, and focus on IRL language use.

About the lesson

My teaching philosophy is simple: you learn best when what you are learning is interesting and relevant to YOU! Housed in communicative and task-based instruction, my lessons put theory into practice. Yes, we learn vocabulary and grammar, but my primary goals are to get you speaking and thinking in Spanish as much as possible.

I've worked with young adult and adult learners for over a decade, and my target audience are learners of any background who have an interest in putting themselves out there and learning a new language. I work to give you the confidence, context, and knowledge necessary to execute YOUR goals.
