About Will

I am an academic and historian specialising in Early Modern and Medieval history, culture, and museum research. I currently serve as a Resident Historian, have taught across leading UK universities (including Birmingham, Warwick, and Nottingham), and hold an upcoming Visiting Fellowship at the University of London.
Having completed my postgraduate studies at the Shakespeare Institute, my work centres on making historical contexts, source evaluation, and high-level essay construction accessible and engaging.
Outside of research and museum curation, I specialise in helping A-Level students bridge the gap between secondary school history and university-level analysis. I bring the rigour, enthusiasm, and source-critique techniques from university seminar rooms directly into our 1-to-1 sessions, giving students the tools and confidence to excel in their exams.

About the lesson

I offer specialist online tutoring for AS and A-Level History students across all major UK exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas).

Whether a student is struggling to structure high-scoring 25-mark essays, analyse complex primary sources, or master historiographical debate, my lessons break down exam mark schemes into clear, actionable frameworks.

Teaching Methodology & Techniques

The "Examiner's Eye" Essay Structuring: Step-by-step guidance on constructing original thesis statements, maintaining analytical momentum, and satisfying top-band assessment objectives. Primary Source & Extract Analysis: Frameworks to evaluate provenance, utility, reliability, and contextual knowledge without falling into the "summary" trap. Historiography & Argumentation: How to incorporate historical interpretations naturally into essays to secure A and A* grades.

Qualifications & Experience

Academic Background: University researcher with extensive experience teaching at top UK institutions including Birmingham, Warwick, and Nottingham. Specialist Knowledge: Resident Historian at a museum with upcoming Visiting Fellowship at the University of London.
