About Urte
I am a PhD researcher in Biophysics at the University of Edinburgh, with visiting research experience at the University of Cambridge. Science has been my passion since school — I completed the International Baccalaureate and went on to spend years studying how biological systems work at the molecular level.
Outside of research I do karate and powerlifting, which taught me that consistency and getting the fundamentals right beats everything else, a philosophy I bring to tutoring too.
I have taught 200+ university students and genuinely love those moments when something finally clicks for a student who was struggling. I teach Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for IB, Scottish Highers, and A-Level, as well as German language and undergraduate statistics

My lessons are tailored entirely to the individual student. I always begin by finding exactly where understanding breaks down, then fix it at the root and build up from there. I use diagrams and visual explanations extensively because this is what makes complex science stick.
I never move on until the student genuinely understands the material, not just memorises it. I adapt completely to each student's pace, learning style, and exam board requirements.
I encourage questions throughout — that is how real understanding develops.
My students range from IB and Scottish Highers pupils preparing for exams to university students needing support with statistics and research methods. Whatever the level, my goal is always the same: walk into your exam feeling genuinely prepared and confident
