About Tom
Three years experience of teaching students from GCSE to MA level. I have taken people from 2'2 level to first class, improving the work of over 70 students.
Support has ranged from content-driven lessons, to essay writing skills, marking, and help with academic English. I have also helped with people's undergraduate and postgraduate applications, helping students to get in to their first-choice universities.

I try to cater all of my advice and lessons to the specific person, addressing their specific weaknesses and trying to find fun and creative ways of overcoming them. Academic work is not just about the subject itself but also about 'playing the game', something many people struggle with. This is an area in which I believe I am of unique use, having devised many tricks and tips for achieving high marks throughout my academic career.
Previous students have found this particularly useful, resulting in some students going from from producing 2'2/2'1 borderline essays to producing first class work on a regular basis.

Perfect! Tom was very clear and helpful.
- Stephen was incredibly receptive to new ideas. As a distance learner, it was not made clear to him how one writes an IR essay. Though possessing all the intelligence and knowledge base to do well, this fundamental part of it was an area he needed assistance in. By the time some tips and some marking was done, Stephen's essays dramatically improved.Tom's response :
