About Yonni
I am a PhD student and I have extensive experience tutoring. I enjoy getting to know my students (their personalities, likes and dislikes, subjects that they struggle with, etc) and it is very important to me that my students feel that they have as much control over their tutoring sessions as possible. Confidence building is crucial to understanding new concepts and strengthening skills and I strive to ensure that students are comfortable with me and confident in themselves and the work that they complete.

My teaching methods are flexible for each student, as I believe students should have autonomy over their education. I have spent the last 4 years teaching adults who struggle with illiteracy to read, most of them beginning tutoring sessions at a 5th grade reading level or below. In this unique position, I have had the opportunity to tutor students in all stages of literacy learning and ultimately aiding in GED preparation. I have experience working with children, teens, adults, and college students.
I have a degree in psychology and I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in neuroscience- two fields that I am very passionate about and eager to share knowledge about with interested students.
