About Ilgaz
I’m Ilgaz, a graduate student in Data Science at George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in Physics from LMU Munich. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, programming, and analytical problem-solving.
Having studied both physics and data science, I understand how challenging technical subjects can feel when they are presented too abstractly. I focus on making difficult concepts intuitive, structured, and approachable while maintaining the rigor needed for academic success.
I have experience working with Python, machine learning, statistical modeling, time series analysis, and data-driven research. I take preparation seriously and adapt each lesson to the student’s current level, learning style, and goals.
Whether you are trying to strengthen your fundamentals, prepare for an exam, improve your programming skills, or understand a difficult university-level topic, my goal is to help you build both confidence and genuine understanding.

My teaching approach focuses on understanding concepts first and applying them through practical examples. With a background in Physics and graduate-level Data Science, I aim to explain technical topics intuitively before moving into formulas, code, or more advanced applications.
A typical lesson starts by identifying the student’s current understanding and the specific areas causing difficulty. I then break the topic into smaller, manageable concepts, work through examples step by step, and finish with practice problems or coding exercises to make sure the student can apply the material independently.
I especially enjoy teaching Python, data science, machine learning, mathematics, statistics, and physics. Rather than relying on memorization, I emphasize the reasoning behind methods: why an approach works, when to use it, and how to recognize similar problems in the future.
My lessons are suitable for high school and university students, beginners learning programming or data science, and students who want additional support with quantitative coursework, assignments, or exam preparation. I adapt the pace and level of detail to each student’s background and goals.
