About Isabella

I have recently graduated from the University of Bath with a first class BSc in Physics. Prior to this, I completed my GCSEs and IB Diploma at Oakham School, however I grew up in the South of France and can speak fluent french.

I am very patient and love maths and science. I believe that this translates into making my students more passionate about the subjects and eager to learn.

I tutored during my time at University, both online and in-person, and have experience with students with ADD and ADHD. I taught GCSE science, focussing on Chemistry, Physics and Maths. Furthermore, I have spent time teaching A-Level and IB HL Physics, where my enthusiasm for the subject has enabled students to enjoy and thrive in these difficult subjects. I am very skilled at making very clear, detailed notes that are both enjoyable to read and educational.

About the lesson

The excellent teaching I have received at school and University has taught me how to learn efficiently by implementing personalised tools to better understand complicated topics. I believe in making learning more interactive to stimulate motivation and enjoyment from my students. I then build understanding by breaking down topics, and focusing on a deep understanding of the basics in order for my students to feel more comfortable with more complicated topics.

I base my teaching style on the student. I have a year of experience teaching GCSE, A-Level and IB Maths and Physics, as well as GCSE chemistry, and have had very positive feedback from my tutees. I have learnt from my experience that breaking information down into diagrams, notes, or interactive demonstrations, makes information much easier to understand and remember.

My lessons typically involve going through theory, working with the student to find ways of representing their notes in a way that makes the most sense to them. Next, we go through small quizzes where I ask the student to explain the topic back to me. Finally, we go through some past exam papers to learn how to apply the knowledge that has just been learnt. I also go through exam technique, revision methods and can provide personalised notes for the student.

I also find working through past papers is key to exam success and therefore dedicate a lot of time to ensuring the students are comfortable with exam papers.

I am only available to teach online at the moment. I teach over Zoom or Microsoft Teams, and use presentations, notes and diagrams which are all sent to the students. I also provide past papers and past paper solutions.
