About Issac
I currently study at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins, a leading music conservatory in the US. My major is composition but I also have extensive experience in piano, often performing in jazz and classical settings as well as premiering new works by composers. My playing has been featured on multiple albums in both styles.
I have tutored small children to college students in the area of music theory, and helped them reach a better understanding of the content. I have also taught piano and helped people reach their desired level of playing.

I focus on making sure my students obtain a deep understanding of material. My goal is to leave students feeling excited and inspired to learn about music!
Piano study (beginner to early advanced) will consist of:
- Piano technique
- Understanding of repertoire
- Phrasing/musicality
- Music theory/analysis
- Skills in harmony
Students interested in learning Jazz styles will learn improvisation and transcription techniques as well as the aforementioned topics.
Composition students will learn:
- Music theory/analysis
- Writing and development techniques
- Basic keyboard skills in harmony
- Standard notation
- Score presentation/engraving
- Critical listening
I am open to teaching classical and jazz styles for both piano and composition!
Feel free to bring any piece you are working on, otherwise I can recommend a starting point!
Lessons will be 30-60 minutes in length
