About Josiah

Knowing how to play the piano is a gift that I love to share with others. The way I see it, anyone can pick up the skill through regular practice and patience and it is an honor to guide learners on their journey. My background in psychology, tennis coaching, child care and experience teaching piano 1-on-1 and in class, has given me the skills to tailor my lessons to each student individually. I am keenly attuned to the fact that each learner has their own strengths and challenges and I make it my goal to keep these in mind. I also believe regular check-ins with parents and/or students are crucial to ensure that everyone is aware of the progress being made and that students are having a good time!

About the lesson

- Classically trained, I teach students to read music and find their own way around the piano so that they can start playing music that they like as soon as possible.
- I can provide the piano (full electric piano with weighted keys and pedal) or use student's preferred keyboard
- Lessons are typically 60 minutes per week, but depends on the level (and attention span!) of each student.
- I have played the piano for almost 30 years and taught for 15. I have a classical performance diploma from the Trinity College London (ATCL) and completed Grade 6 in Music Theory (ABRSM).
- My passion is for keeping the spark alive when learning piano. I have taught mainly beginner to early grade level to students from age 4 all the way through to adults.

I hold a valid WWCC (as I am employed separately by a company that works with schools) and I am happy to meet or have a phone call beforehand to discuss/answer initial questions.
