About Simon

I have a Masters Degree in Music from Colchester Institute which I passed with Distinction as well as a 2:1 BA(Hons) Degree from the same university. I am a calm and relaxed person, with plenty of patience and encouragement to give to help you on your piano journey. I have experience in playing all sorts of music, including pop, jazz, classical and composition.

About the lesson

I am here to help adults who are starting (or restarting) to learn piano and who want to take a more relaxed approach to learning. Whilst I am happy to suggest repertoire or broaden your musical interests, I will always enable you to choose your own pieces and your own pathway. Whether you wish to play for fun or go for the grades, I will endeavour to support you on your musical journey. I can also help any instrumentalist who wishes to improve their reading and writing through music theory lessons. I'll take you through the basics of how to read scores, how to interpret what is on the page into your own playing and if you so choose, through the ABRSM theory grades 1-5, which you can now take the exam from the comfort of your own home. Grab a cup of tea, coffee, or even a glass of wine and enjoy learning music with me. (There may be an appearance from a cat called Ted...)
