About Rudy

Graduating from Eastman School of Music meant spending thousands of hours practicing alone in a studio. Most people assume that classical training makes a teacher rigid or cold, but I prefer a supportive and warm atmosphere for my students. I work primarily with beginners who want to establish a functional relationship with their instrument through consistent practice.

My 5 years of teaching have taught me that clear communication is the best tool for improvement. I keep things simple and real.

About the lesson

Focusing on the physical aspect of playing creates a better sound from the very first day. We start by sitting at the keys to refine posture and hand position, which immediately changes how the notes resonate under your fingers.

Integrating scales and arpeggios provides the mechanical framework necessary to move freely around the piano. My degree from Eastman ensures that we cover essential theory like sight transposition, ear training, and sight playing with technical accuracy.

I also incorporate dynamics and expression to ensure the music feels alive rather than mechanical. Exploring classical repertoire adds depth to our repertoire study while jazz improvisation invites a creative spark into our regular routine.

You will find that these 10 segments of study build upon each other to create a 6.0 level of technical fluency. My 5 years of experience means I can quickly adapt to your specific questions during our time together. We end the hour with a clear plan for your practice before the next appointment.
