About Monica

I have been teaching music/piano for about 7 years and taught over 60 students. I have taught group classes and private piano lessons at Music Stream Center in Davis, CA for 5 years. I also taught private piano lessons at Natomas School of Music for 2 years. I have successfully prepared students for performance, recitals, competitions, festivals and music testing. I have had students recieve trophies in participation of festivals. Through the Music Teacher's Association of California, I have had many students be selected to perform in the yearly Honors Recitals for scoring high in the Certificate of Merit Examination.

About the lesson

My name is Monica Zarate and I am a passionate piano teacher. I enjoy teaching piano to children of all ages and levels. Every student is different and I like to approach teaching with an open mind and flexibility that will fit each individual student. I start with the basics of technique and music reading. I like to use method books for beginner students such as Faber Piano Adventures. However depending on the age and experience of the child, the books will vary. I strive to educate students in all areas of music such as theory, ear-training, sight-reading, technique, music history, etc.
