About Varun

Hello :) I am a pianist, a guitarist, a singer-songwriter, but really I am a fan of music before anything else. This philosophy is at the core of everything I strive to do. I have a BA degree from McGill in jazz piano and I've been teaching ever since I graduated. I consider myself fortunate to have such wonderful students to work with every day.

About the lesson

Hello music lovers these classes are for you!

Together we will master our fundamentals and learn how to speak the language of music. It doesn't matter if you like classical/jazz/rock/pop, they are all streams of the same ocean. With my method you will become a musician - not just a pianist - and you will be able to do it all.

Composing, improvising, reading music, producing beats, songwriting, jamming with others, they are all part of the same process. More than anything I try to make our time together fun, because if you love music, that's all you really need to get better.

My goal is to have my students see the joy that lies at their fingertips. All levels, all styles.

Bonjour les mélomanes, ces cours sont pour vous !

Ensemble, nous maîtriserons les bases et apprendrons à parler le langage de la musique. Peu importe que vous aimiez le classique/jazz/rock/pop, ce sont tous des ruisseaux dans le même océan. Avec ma méthode, vous deviendrez un musicien - pas seulement une pianiste - et vous serez capable de tout faire.

Composer, improviser, lire la musique, produire des rythmes, écrire des chansons, jouer avec d'autres, tout cela fait partie du même processus. Par-dessus tout, j'essaie de faire en sorte que le temps que nous passons ensemble soit amusant, car si vous aimez la musique, c'est tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour vous améliorer.

Mon objectif est que mes élèves découvrent la joie qui se trouve au bout de leurs doigts. Tous les niveaux, tous les styles.

Perfect! In only 1 lesson, he help me to reach almost the level when i left 35 years ago! Which is amazing! And he als9 made me undetsrabd things that i didn't understand back then! I am very happy with my lesson with him!

Perfect! Varun, what a teacher!
I have been takin piano lessons with Varun for 1 month now and I highly recommend his teaching.
He really has the "knack" to transmit his love and passion for music, it's contagious!
He is good at grasping what kind of music player you are (or aspire to be ;-) ) and adapt to your style and interest.
Is approach more based on felling the music and improvisation really clicked with me.
He also plays guitar and bass which he sometimes pull out in the middle of a class to bust a jam to practice what you have been learning. He is always very patient and supportive even though I always end up screwing up our Jams.
The icing on the cake is that his classes take place on a wonderful grand piano.
