About Laura
I started playing piano around 4 years old, and fell in love with it. I have completed my grade 8 in both piano and music theory, and have a degree in music education. I compose for orchestra as well as piano and I live and breathe music!! Film scores and soundtracks are what I'm currently obsessing over :) I had many teachers throughout my years of learning piano and one thing I've taken away is that learning something comes naturally when you are having fun! That is why making lessons fun and enjoyable is my passion - no matter what your age/level is!

I am a qualified secondary school music teacher with 8 years experience teaching piano in person and virtually. The 'student-centered' learning style is my philosophy!! I act only as a guide to help you on your music journey :) We usually begin with a fun warm-up activity or game, and then move on to the main objective of the lesson, working towards your goals! Learn to play your favorite pieces, or take on a new challenge. Sight reading is a crucial part of learning how to read music you are playing, and I incorporate this aspect in a fun way that my students love :) If improv is more your style - the focus of our classes will be on chords, key signatures, and melody improving! Whatever your goal is, I can help you achieve it :) I would recommend one 30-minute lesson a week to see progression, however, if you are looking for something more intense I offer 1-hour classes too.

I used to take piano lessons as a kid and unfortunately gave it up. Then during college I met Laura and picked up piano lessons again with her and she made it so easy and fun to learn! Laura would always tailor the lesson to your level and what you know. It was always fun and got to try out some songs that I wanted to learn and she was always happy to do so.
