About Derek

I have 3 years of experience teaching piano and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano and Keyboard Studies. During my teaching journey, I have worked with students who wanted to improve technique, musical awareness, and confidence in performance. Supporting learners as they achieve new skills is something I greatly enjoy.

My teaching style emphasizes encouragement, simplicity, and structured development. I believe students progress best when lessons provide clear goals and a positive environment for learning. Every learner receives support that matches their pace and needs.

Outside teaching, I enjoy exploring keyboard music, studying educational methods, and collaborating with fellow musicians. These experiences help me bring enthusiasm and fresh ideas into lessons. I am dedicated to helping students build skills that support lifelong enjoyment of music.

About the lesson

My piano lessons focus on helping students create strong musical foundations while developing confidence at the keyboard. We work on note-reading, rhythm control, finger independence, hand coordination, scales, chord structures, and expressive performance techniques. Every lesson encourages steady improvement through practical and enjoyable activities.

Students participate in technical exercises, sight-reading practice, listening tasks, repertoire development, and musical creativity exercises. I provide clear explanations that help learners understand how different musical concepts connect together. Lessons are personalized to support individual learning goals and interests.

I enjoy helping students gain confidence through consistent progress and positive learning experiences. Through supportive instruction and regular feedback, learners strengthen their abilities while developing greater musical understanding. My goal is to make piano learning enjoyable, effective, and inspiring.
