About Bella

I have 7 years of experience teaching piano, combining my academic training with a Bachelor of Music in Sacred Music, focusing on piano and organ. My passion lies in historical piano styles like ragtime, stride, and early jazz. These genres offer rich musical traditions that I love sharing with my students. I work with both school-aged learners and adults, tailoring lessons to their unique goals and interests. Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your understanding, I provide guidance that’s both structured and inspiring. My approach balances technical skill development with exploring the expressive nuances of these classic styles. I believe that learning historical piano music connects us to vibrant musical roots while developing essential technique. My lessons are engaging and hands-on, encouraging students to play with feeling and authenticity. I enjoy helping students discover the joy and character of ragtime rhythms and stride patterns. Together, we build a strong foundation and grow your confidence in performance. I’m excited to help you unlock the timeless charm of these piano traditions. Let’s embark on this musical journey and bring history to life through your playing.

About the lesson

My piano teaching approach focuses on making music theory clear and practical. I cover fundamentals like chord progressions, inversions, and harmonic analysis, showing how these concepts work directly on the keyboard. This helps students understand the music they play and compose with confidence.

I work closely with The Exam Taker and The Classical Performer, tailoring lessons to their specific goals. Together, we explore how theory supports better playing, sight-reading, and improvisation. I break down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps to ensure steady progress.

By connecting theory with hands-on practice, students gain a deeper musical understanding. I emphasize building a strong foundation that opens doors to composition and creative expression. Regular feedback and focused exercises keep the learning process engaging and effective.

My goal is to help you apply theory in ways that enhance your performance and musicianship. With dedication, you'll unlock new levels of musical insight and creativity. Let’s build your skills and make music theory a powerful tool for your piano journey.
