About Lucia
Lucia completed her initial Pilates training in Bermuda in 2000 after which she advanced her training in the US and upon returning to South Africa founded re:form studios in Port Elizabeth and furthered her training with Californian based Rael Isacowitz of Body Arts and Science International. Lucia relocated to Cape Town in 2004 and for several years worked with Body Technology SA, in this time she got certified to teach Ashtanga Yoga and wrote/published manuals for Pilates Mat work teacher training which she and Andre Oelofse taught from Body Technology. Lucia has taught in Bali and Thailand and teaches both Pilates and Yoga and a powerful combination of the two. All areas of your life start to improve once you begin to breathe and move mindfully.

I have been teaching Pilates since 2000 and Yoga since 2004. I have taught complete beginners and advanced students alike. If you would like to take your health and fitness into your own hands, learning how to move the body mindfully, improving your posture and overall tone then this is for you. As a beginner you would learn everything you need to know starting with breathing and as an advanced student you will continually be challenged. Private sessions are tailor-made for the individual, which helps to evolve your practice and understanding of your body. With 19 years of experience in teaching and a good understanding of the body you can expect to feel the results from your sessions. Pilates is a system of stretching and strengthening exercises that promote uniform development of the musculature of the body. This allows for the weaker and less developed muscles to activate and strengthen in support of the stronger more developed muscles that the body ordinarily relies on to do the work of daily activities, often creating imbalances. Pilates focuses on the core muscles first, specifically the stomach, buttocks and back, in a sense working the muscles from the inside out. This achieves and maintains a more balanced and aligned body, making movement easier and more comfortable, giving you a sense of power and strength in your body. It is a great addition and support to any other type of sport.
