About Joana
My name is Joana Avi-Lorie and I am a Portuguese-born architect, writer and researcher living in Edinburgh. I have always been passionate about research, management, communication and stories inside and outside work, and I have a genuine interest in people and their work and excellent communication skills. I speak several languages and I have always been drawn and inspired by different ways of communicating. I am completing a PhD at the university of Edinburgh studying the creative exploration of eco-anxiety in children 9-12 and I work as freelance writer, illustrator and tutor.

I look forward to welcoming and tutoring students who love a dynamic storytellers' approach to teaching. Our communication and understanding of the world are made through stories and it's vital that we figure out how to replace a narrative that isn't working anymore with a new one! I want to offer a tailored and personal approach to each student and help them not only get the best results but also enjoy the process of learning and explore their curiosity about the subject.
