About Adrienne

I am a PhD level postdoctoral professional with over 10 years of teaching experience including teaching for university classrooms, individuals, web classes/webinars, and continuing education credits. I have taught several disciplines, including science-based, language and linguistics based, and arts and humanities based lessons and subjects and consider teaching a form of study for myself. I enjoy being able to help a student conquer an entire subject or simply understand a basic element of a lesson.

About the lesson

I use complementary methods of teaching rather than a "one-style fits all approach". Frequently I use the standard lecture style of teaching to begin a lesson before venturing into discussion with students or the student. Because each individual learns and processes knowledge differently, I tailor all individual lessons to the student's preferred method of learning. One standard that I do observe in all my teaching lessons is the student-centric approach. I do not feel that students are empty vessels that learn by simple rhetoric. Therefore, I coach and facilitate a student's learning then measure the student's retention of the material through both formal and informal assessments. My approach to teaching is one of an "equal-partnership" in which the student benefits from my teaching method while I benefit from the student's ability to learn, understand, analyze, and retain the lesson. I feel it is important to have active discussion and for every student to feel completely comfortable expressing their understanding or misunderstanding of the subject matter.
