About Lana

I am currently studying PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) at the University of Warwick, one of the UK's leading universities. I achieved a Grade 9 in both GCSE English Literature and English Language, including 95% in my English Literature examination, and went on to achieve an A in IB English.

Having recently completed these qualifications myself, I have a thorough understanding of what examiners are looking for and how students can move from good answers to top-grade responses. I am familiar with the requirements of GCSE English Language and Literature and can help students develop the analytical, essay-writing and comprehension skills needed to succeed.

My teaching style is patient, structured and tailored to each student's individual needs. I break down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and focus on building both confidence and academic ability. Whether a student from Year 2 to Year 11 is preparing for 11+ entrance examinations, looking to improve their English skills, or aiming for top GCSE grades, I adapt lessons to their goals and learning style.

I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential and creating a supportive learning environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and developing their confidence. My aim is not only to improve grades, but also to help students become stronger, more independent learners.

About the lesson

Each lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs, strengths and academic goals, ensuring that every session is focused, engaging and productive. I prioritise developing a strong understanding of texts, themes and literary techniques before helping students apply this knowledge effectively in essays and exam questions.

My teaching focuses on building confidence in reading, analysis and written communication, while also developing the exam techniques needed to achieve top grades. Students receive personalised feedback and targeted practice to help reinforce learning and track progress over time.

For 11+ students, lessons focus on strengthening comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and critical thinking skills, alongside preparation for exam-style questions.

Lessons are typically one hour long and are conducted online. I am flexible with scheduling and am happy to provide support between lessons should students have any questions about work covered during our sessions.
