About Mahima
Hi! I love helping students understand math and science.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Biology and a minor in Psychology. I have received As in Algebra, Chemistry, Psychology, and Biology courses throughout high school and college. I scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT. I’ve been tutoring students since high school.
I help my students improve their understanding of the material and their grades by tailoring each session to their unique learning style and pace and encouraging questions, discussions, and critical thinking.
Using real-life examples and practical applications, I make complex concepts relatable. My students develop a solid foundation in math and science that helps them succeed throughout their academic career.
As a non-profit tutor with Learn To Be, I volunteered to tutor middle school students (ages 11, 12 & 13) in Algebra and Prealgebra 1-on-1. I worked closely with students on test-taking strategies, effective note-taking techniques, homework, projects, papers, and research assignments.
As an academic mentor in the Freshman Mentor Program, I tutored college freshmen (ages 17, 18 & 19) 1-on-1 in Biology, Organic Chemistry, and Microbiology.
As a Teaching Assistant for the undergraduate Biochemistry lab, I guided students (ages 18 thru 22) through experiments and ensured that they understood the underlying concepts clearly.
In a virtual classroom environment, I conducted review sessions (as a Teaching Assistant) to help students (ages 18 thru 22) understand concepts in Personality Psychology.
Over the past four years, I've immersed myself in General Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Developmental Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Microbial Physiology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Intro to Psychology, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Personality Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Differential and Integral Calculus.
I look forward to helping you. Let's embark on this transformative learning experience together!
