About Ciaran

Hi! I'm Ciaran, a recent graduate of Binghamton University with a B.S. in Biology and a passion for science, research, and education.

During college, I worked as an undergraduate researcher in a biochemistry lab, studying proteins involved in embryonic development and cancer. I also served as a Teaching Assistant for Tissue Biology, where I led review sessions and helped students work through challenging concepts.

Having taken my fair share of difficult science courses, I know how frustrating it can be when something just isn't clicking. I enjoy breaking down complicated topics into simpler, more understandable explanations and helping students reach that moment when everything finally makes sense.

Outside of academics, I enjoy playing rugby, surfing, and spending time outdoors. I'm easygoing, patient, and genuinely enjoy helping others learn. Whether you're struggling with a particular topic or looking to improve your grades, I'm here to help!

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centered around making complex scientific concepts easier to understand rather than simply memorizing information. I believe students learn best when they understand the reasoning behind a concept and can apply it to new problems.

I typically start each lesson by identifying what a student is struggling with, then break the material down into manageable steps using diagrams, real-world examples, and practice questions. As we work through problems together, I encourage students to explain their thought process so I can identify any gaps in understanding and help build their confidence.

I graduated from Binghamton University with a B.S. in Biology, have hands-on experience conducting molecular biology and biochemistry research, and previously served as a Teaching Assistant for a college-level Tissue Biology course. In that role, I led review sessions for groups of up to 100 students, which taught me how to explain challenging material in different ways depending on how someone learns.

I offer tutoring in biology, chemistry, and biochemistry for high school and undergraduate students, whether they're preparing for an exam, working through difficult assignments, or looking to strengthen their overall understanding of the subject. My goal is to make science feel approachable and help students develop the skills to succeed independently.
