About Jenny

I have 12 years of teaching experience as a classroom teacher in the UK, as well as in nursery and primary schools in France and Spain, and as a private tutor both in the UK and abroad. I have also worked as an English as a Foreign Language tutor in a language college.

I have a PGCE in Primary Education with specialism in MFL and a CELTA qualification, and I now work exclusively as a private tutor in York. I offer Maths, English and Spanish tuition to pupils in school and home education. I also tutor for the 11+ entrance exams and help pupils prepare for the KS2 SATs.

About the lesson

I believe that effective private tuition should be tailored to each individual pupil. I take time to understand their needs, strengths and areas for development, and plan lessons accordingly. I believe that the right level of challenge, combined with encouragement and enjoyment, helps pupils to make progress and reach their full potential.

My lessons are calm, supportive and engaging. I use a variety of teaching methods, including real-life examples, games, activities and tailored resources, to suit each pupil and keep them actively involved in their learning.

I aim to develop a good rapport with every pupil and create an atmosphere where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I am patient and willing to persevere to find the approach that works best for each individual. Above all, I want pupils to enjoy their lessons, build confidence and see their own progress.
