About Calista

I am a Malaysian soprano, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Voice (Hons) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD), London.

Beyond my classical training, I'm also active in contemporary genres including Pop, Mandopop, Jazz, and Musical Theatre. I'm currently a member of the Jazz vocal trio Pop n’ Bop, formed by acclaimed Malaysian jazz pianist Michael Veerapen, and have performed at notable venues across Kuala Lumpur, including Simply Jazz, Bobo KL, Jao Tim, and Liberal Latte.

My performance experience also extends internationally and across the region, with appearances in Penang, Singapore, and Chengdu. I've also had the opportunity to perform alongside the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).

Alongside my performing career, I have several years of experience teaching vocal music, both in music studios and through private one-to-one lessons. I enjoy working with students of different ages, backgrounds, and experience levels, helping them build a strong vocal foundation, develop healthy singing techniques, and discover their own unique voices.

My approach to teaching combines my classical training with an appreciation for different musical styles, allowing me to tailor lessons to each student's individual goals and interests.

Calista is very patient and supportive. She clearly explains the breathing techniques and always reminds me to relax my neck and jaw while I sing. Overall she is a really good teacher :)
