About Jim

I’ve had the pleasure of teaching literally, hundreds of students at every skill level for the last 35 years, and what a joy that has been for me. I've studied under 11 teachers in focusing on various genres of guitar playing since I was 10 years old and have performed professionally in numerous bands around the U.S. I currently teach private lessons to between 35 - 40 students per week and have availability for just a few more. I have one basic philosophy in my approach to teaching: get the student to fall in love with the guitar so it becomes a life-long passion.

About the lesson

As an experienced guitar instructor, I endeavor to make guitar lessons fun, practical and productive!!! Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, advanced, a musically frustrated novice or even a professional level musician needing to deepen their musical knowledge, I can help you!

I teach on both electric and acoustic guitar. Styles include: Jazz, Blues, Rock, Country, Folk, Finger-style, Slide Guitar, Classical Guitar, Popular Songs, Contemporary Christian and Gospel Styles. I also teach reading music, reading tablature and music theory.

I teach lessons to kids as young as 11 years old to adults in their retirement years. I have a proven track record of success with my skills and methodology as a teacher. Many of my students remain with me for a number of years progressing into advanced players. A number of my students have become degreed musicians, pro-musicians and some have become guitar instructors as well.
