About Brianna

Hi! I am a teacher candidate in my last year of my program. I have always dreamed of becoming a teacher, as I've always wanted to work with kids.
I enjoy visual arts, which I often incorporate into my teaching methods. I also enjoy reading, writing, going on walks and watching my favourite shows/movies!
As a teacher, my goal is to teach my students about the world. To prepare them for what society has in store for them. Whether that be in math, language, media, job experience, etc.
My time away from work consist of going to the gym, being with friends and family, learning to cook new recipes and watching Netflix.

About the lesson

Every student I work with is given a binder which holds all of the worksheets and activities we complete together. This way, we can better monitor progress and goals.
I believe in having the students create short-term and long-term goals. I find this allows us to stay on track and work towards something together. Having the student feel like they are a part of this process helps them remain motivated, as well!
For younger students, I work with a sticker chart. Once the student successfully completes a certain amount of sessions, they get to pick a small prize.
I prefer one-on-one sessions, as this allows the student to feel comfortable enough to ask questions and we can work at their pace, without feeling rushed. I like to reinforce concepts of learning, rather than memorization strategies when applicable. My goal is always to teach a student how to learn, that way they can apply this to any subject and in their future.
