About Samuel

Hi, I’m Samuel. I’ve spent the last 17 years working as an animator across film, games, and virtual production, and 5 of those years deeply focused on motion capture technology.

I started teaching because I love helping people bring their ideas to life, especially when they think animation is too complex or out of reach. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, I enjoy breaking down technical workflows and showing how animation is actually a language anyone can learn with the right guidance.

I’ve worked on major productions, mentored students, and trained professionals. My sessions are structured but fun, always personal to your pace and interests. If you’re curious, committed, or just ready to try, I’d love to help you grow your skills frame by frame.

About the lesson

Each lesson I teach is hands-on, encouraging, and built around your learning goals. I focus on storytelling through movement, helping students not just animate, but understand why characters move the way they do.

I start by getting to know where you are in your creative journey. From there, I design each class to suit your pace, whether that’s learning how to rig a character, polish a walk cycle, build a stop-motion project, or capture performance using motion capture data.

I blend real-world industry knowledge with approachable, step-by-step guidance. We use professional software like Maya, Blender, and Unreal Engine; not just to follow tools, but to create with intention.

My lessons often include:

Short creative warm-ups to build animation instincts

Deep dives into core principles like timing, spacing, and acting

Technical guidance tailored to software or pipelines you want to master

Visual feedback and iterative reviews to help you improve with confidence

Whether you're a young learner exploring animation for the first time or a professional working on a portfolio piece, the sessions are structured, inspiring, and designed to help you express your own creative voice.

This first lesson is free to allow you to get to know your teacher so that they can best meet your needs.

I’m based in Central London and bring over 17 years of professional animation experience, including 5 years in motion capture and virtual production.

My lessons are tailored for different levels:

School Students – £40/hour

University Students & Portfolio Coaching – £60/hour

Industry Professionals / Advanced Training – £75 to £100/hour

I also offer a free 60-minute trial session so you can get a feel for my teaching style and see if we’re the right fit.

Lessons are available online or in person, depending on your preference. If I’m travelling to your location within 20km of London, a small travel fee of £15 may apply.

All tools and software guidance (like Maya, Blender, Unreal) are included—no extra costs for teaching material. You just need your own device or access to a computer with the required software.
