About Bjorn

I am a professional conductor and cellist with over 30 years of experience in the classical music world, both as a performer and dedicated teacher. I offer personalised tuition and expert guidance—available online or in person—for students of any age and ability, from complete beginners to advanced professionals. Passionate and approachable, I truly love teaching and am eager to share my expertise to nurture your musical growth. I have successfully guided young children, adult learners, college students, graduates, and fellow professionals alike. Currently, I serve as Director of Music at the University of East Anglia, where I lead a vibrant musical community. I collaborate regularly with Cape Town Opera and the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, and hold the position of Principal Conductor for the innovative Irish Memory Orchestra, the City of Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, and the Bedford Symphony Orchestra. For 12 years, I was Head of Strings in a highly regarded music department. My extensive experience includes preparing students for conservatoire auditions, teaching composition, and delivering music theory at all levels (including ABRSM exams). I am also a specialist in cello tuition across Trinity and ABRSM syllabuses, up to and including diploma qualifications.
