About Patrick

I have been a dancer for nearly twenty years, and have experienced my fair share of teachers, each one of their respective teaching methods have shaped how I run a class. I am a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College's musical theater program and have had the good fortune to work with esteemed professionals in New York, regionally around the country, and on cruises in the Caribbean and Mediterranean.

About the lesson

Ever dreamed of being able to dance like a Broadway performer? With me, you'll be one step closer to doing just that. I am a firm believer in creating a positive and high energy environment that emboldens my students' creativity and their strive toward excellence. I am a firm believer in strong instruction and gentle nudging to inspire my students to push their technique to the next level, all within the boundaries of owning their own selves and taking pride in what they have to offer.

Perfect! Patrick and I are off to a fantastic start. He is a professional dance instructor - no question. I"m a sixty-six year old male that wants to unleash what's inside. I feel I've always had rhythm, but didn't know how to dance. He doesn't treat me like an old guy, he's teaching me fundamentals he would teach anyone. Did I have a bit of a time keeping up with him at times, yeah a bit. But that's what I want. I want to be able to take what he teaches and practice, come back learn more, practice more. Now, I fully expect he will help me completely exceed my expectations as it relates to dancing. I'll be catching them off guard for sure. Like he said, just show confidence and everyone will believe it! More to follow...

Shevon was wonderful today in class. Very polite, and she took corrections well. A couple of things to continue working on:
- drawbacks going backwards. Continue the steps as I showed them today.
- Shirley Temple steps: keep them underneath you
- Buffalo steps with a flap. Continue on this advancement from the original buffalo step
- Single pullback. Try them with a chair and tennis shoes. Stomp pull back. stomp, pull back, pull back.
Overall, she's in a great place, and can only improve from here. Great job today!
