About Robert

I am a dedicated, enthusiastic, reliable and professional drummer and tutor with a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience. My passion for music is infectious, and when teaching I deliver lessons that are relaxed, fun, flexible and focused on each student’s individual needs and goals. I encourage patience, perseverance and practice, allowing my students to discover their own identity and voice behind the drum kit, whilst learning all the skills they need to become the best musician they can be. I love taking on new challenges and gain a great sense of fulfilment when seeing students’ progress.

I started playing the drums when I was 13, and started teaching drums at 17, shortly after achieving a 91% distinction in my Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 exam. I continued teaching whilst studying at the prestigious Leeds Conservatoire (Leeds College of Music) where I graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Popular Music.

Since graduating I have, and still continue to, play in numerous original projects, allowing me to perform on TV and Radio, as well as festivals such as: Boomtown, Manchester Pride, Love Supreme, Live at Leeds, Sound City Liverpool, Belladrum, King Tuts Summer Nights, and many more. I also play in cover bands at weddings and corporate events up and down the country.

About the lesson

I believe that every student is different and learns in their own unique way. Which is why I tailor each lesson to the individual, and develop a learning plan which is right for YOU. Over the course of your lessons, you will learn a variety of skills to make you a well-rounded musician as well as encouraging you to find our own unique voice and style behind the kit. Skills such as:

- Solid groove & time keeping.
- Rudiments & technique.
- Fills & chops.
- Musicianship.
- Creativity.
- Different genres and styles.

30 minute, 45 minute, 60 minute & 90 minute lessons are available either online or in-person at my house or your's.
