About Jiayi

I am a recent graduate from Northwestern University, where I studied Learning and Organizational Change while competing as a Division I student-athlete. Balancing academics and competitive golf taught me how to perform under pressure, adapt to challenges, and enjoy the process of continuous improvement.

My coaching philosophy is simple: every player learns differently. Rather than focusing only on perfect technique, I help students build confidence, develop good habits, and understand the game in a way that feels enjoyable and sustainable.

As a bilingual coach fluent in both English and Mandarin, I enjoy working with juniors, beginners, and international families. Whether you are picking up a golf club for the first time or looking to improve your overall game, my goal is to create a positive environment where learning feels rewarding.

I believe that golf is more than hitting good shots—it is about learning how to solve problems, stay calm, and keep moving forward one swing at a time.

About the lesson

My Approach as a Golf Tutor

I believe that learning golf should be fun before it becomes technical. Especially for beginners and young players, confidence and enjoyment are just as important as mechanics.

Rather than asking students to perfect every movement, I focus on helping them understand the game through simple goals, creative drills, and positive reinforcement. I encourage players to celebrate progress—every shot doesn't have to be perfect; it only needs to be a little better than the last one.

As both a competitive golfer and a recent university graduate studying Learning and Organizational Change, I enjoy combining sports psychology, communication, and practical coaching methods to create a supportive learning environment.

A Typical Lesson

• Warm-up with movement and coordination exercises.

• One key concept for the day (grip, balance, contact, or short game).

• Game-based practice instead of repetitive drills.

• Reflection: What worked well today? What should we try next time?

For younger students, lessons often include simple challenges and storytelling activities that help them stay engaged and build confidence.
