About Callum
Professional Maths and Physics tutor and current undergraduate physicist at Durham University, that achieved an A* at A-Level in Physics, Maths, and Further Maths. I have coached multiple students for GCSE and A-Level success. I know what it's like studying in school and understand that it can all feel overwhelming and unachievable at times. I break down complicated concepts into small simple steps, building the student’s confidence and skills until they are smoothly solving problems themselves. I use proven, self developed learning methods and materials, as well as advanced sessions for improving understanding. I believe building a relationship with students built on trust and a common goal is essential to the learning process. Working as a team to achieve the student's goals instils the confidence and motivation necessary for success. Let's work as a team and achieve your goals. You can do it.

My sessions for success in science or maths at any level tend to follow a proven approach. We take one topic at a time, ensuring that the student's grasp of it is comprehensive before moving on. The general structure for each topic is as follows: Content - We firstly focus on content, ensuring that understanding of the topic is solid before moving any further. Example exercises include teach reversal where the student teaches content back to me. This is a great way to spot weaker areas and is very useful in developing a deeper understanding. Memory - The next stage involves identifying the key facts and definitions the student needs to commit to memory. We create memory tools and will revisit these points throughout our sessions to retest the student again and again until they are deep within their memory. Questions - Here, answering common questions with the standard method becomes second nature. By doing as many questions as possible the student makes the methods feel natural such that, even under pressurising exam conditions, he or she can perform. Exam Technique - Finally, we focus on past paper questions which have been split up by topic. This hones exam technique and makes the student aware of common mistakes and how to avoid them.

Callum is a highly enthusiastic tutor who has a passion for teaching. His individualised tutoring style helps target pupils specific needs in a calm relaxed manner.
Callum has been a massive help in my maths studies over the years . As a past student of his, I am now studying engineering at university, and I believe his explanations and ability to build my confidence have given me the mathematical base to move forward in my studies. I just wish he could still help me with my uni homework!
