About Melbourne
I’m Jon, a professional guitarist and music producer based in Melbourne, and the founder of Melbourne Guitar School. I’ve been playing and teaching guitar for many years and have a genuine passion for helping people enjoy making music. I hold a Certificate IV in Music Tuition and a degree in Music Production, and I combine real-world musical experience with a clear, supportive teaching style. I enjoy working with beginners through to advanced players and take pride in creating a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable learning at their own pace. Teaching guitar isn’t just about learning songs — it’s about building confidence, understanding music, and enjoying the process of improvement.

My guitar lessons focus on clear structure, practical skills, and steady progress. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level, goals, and musical taste, whether you’re a complete beginner or an intermediate or advanced player looking to improve.
Lessons are typically 30 or 60 minutes and are delivered live online, or in person at my studio in Northcote, Melbourne. I use a step-by-step teaching approach that combines technique, song learning, and easy-to-understand music theory.
I hold a Certificate IV in Music Tuition and a degree in Music Production, and I have many years of teaching experience. This allows me to help students not only learn songs, but truly understand how music works so they can play with confidence and independence.
