About Joshua

Hi my name is Josh and I'm based in Leeds, I have worked in the creative industry for around 12 years and counting after achieving my degree in computer animation and media. Over the years I have found myself both employed and freelance, but I got in to media at a very early age picking up my first camera when I was around 10 years old and ever since I have fallen in love with both photo and video.

I have been tutoring for around 4 years and I have taught a range of students from all backgrounds and knowledge levels (some coming to me with zero knowledge of photography). Some want to learn because its their passion and they want to perfect the art of photography for them selves. Some come to me with aspirations of turning their love of photography in to a profitable business model. Which ever category you fall under and what ever your goals are after being on a course with me I can guarantee to take you to a level where you can confidently describe your work as PROFESSIONAL!.

I am the founder of a media brand called Purple Milk Media which has been hugely successful covering all types of media from Photography, Videography, 3D Development, Graphics Design and much more...

About the lesson

I give lessons to all learning levels, no matter if you're a beginner or someone with prior knowledge already. What ever your goals are I can help you achieve them in photography.

I give degree/industry professional level lessons on a one to one bases. A strong teaching curriculum is set in place which will help you gain all the skills needed to become a professional by tackling specific areas throughout each lesson of the course (Best suited for beginners).....

Or you can pick and choose exactly what you want to learn, with in the industry (suited to students with prior knowledge).

- We will cover all the basics to get you out of automatic mode such as ISO, Aperture, F Stop, manual and automatic focus.

- From there we will delve in to white balance, exposure compensation and LOG profiles.

- Once you know how to use your camera in manual mode we will focus on specific styles of photography learning composition and the science behind lighting which will cover dark and light environments along with the use of flash.

- From there we will jump in to light room to perfect and pull the best out of your photos and apply beautiful colour grades to help give you your own professional style.

- Our end goal will be to get you to such a level you feel be confident working on a job. If I feel like you can hold your own there will be opportunities to work a job with myself to get real world industry experience.

As a (tutor) I am patient, inviting and really easy to get along with if we need to recap things we can, its always in your own time. But we always will achieve that end result/goal.

Firstly let me say I was a complete novice going into all of this...
Joshua was very patient and attentive. He showed me not only the importance of what I should be doing to capture an audiences attention, but of equal importance what I should not do to turn off peoples appetite for the production I was working on. This was indenteding my first major piece.
All I can say is that by the end of it, it was a raving success and I got the exposure I had hoped for!
I couldn't have done it without his hand on knowledge.
Hats off to the guy I couldn't have done it without him and am only to happy to recommend.
