About Kate

I am a British photographer specialising in interiors, travel and lifestyle photography. Photography has taken me all over the world, I lived in Los Angeles for 7 years and am now based between London and Kyoto, Japan, but I travel regularly for work, so will be taking a flexible approach to teaching, around shoots. Online is preferable but I am in London currently and am happy to meet in person if travel costs and my time is covered. I'm friendly, dynamic and encourage passion in my students and working intuitively rather than being too technical. Looking forward to working with you!

About the lesson

I take a personal approach to teaching and mentoring, tailoring classes to your needs. I am very used to teaching complete beginners, starting with the technical side of things and moving on to creative techniques, encouraging you to find your own voice and style. If you've already started your journey and have specific questions, we can begin there, too. Happy to share my knowledge of the business side of photography also. I shoot natural light rather than studio photography and I am trained more in digital photography rather than analogue (although camera setting knowledge is transferable between the two and I encourage the craft of using film!). I use Lightroom and sometimes Photoshop, happy to share my knowledge of software. All ages and levels are welcome, total beginners are definitely encouraged! I am self-taught and have worked with some big brands and many editorial publications in my 15 years of professional photography experience and I want to lead by example that it's possible for you, too. I have taught online previously both group classes and individual mentoring.
