About Dom

I’m Dom Scohy, an active professional pianist, composer and music producer based in Derby. I grew up in a deeply musical family: my mother was an international opera singer, so music was part of everyday life from the beginning.

I went on to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, building a strong classical foundation before developing my work across jazz, funk, pop, improvisation and composition. Alongside teaching, I remain active as a live musician, recording-session pianist and composer, performing with different artists and working on studio projects.

Some of my original work has also been broadcast on BBC Radio Derby. This ongoing professional experience shapes my teaching, combining solid technique with creativity, practical musicianship and a real understanding of how music works beyond the lesson room.

About the lesson

I’m an active professional musician, pianist and composer with more than 20 years of experience performing, recording and working with artists across a wide range of styles. Alongside teaching, I continue to play live, work in studios and create music for projects and media. My background includes classical training at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, as well as jazz, funk, pop, improvisation and music production. I had some of my work broadcast on BBC Radio Derby

I teach piano lessons in Derby for children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners to advanced musicians. Lessons are tailored to your goals and can include classical piano, ABRSM exams, jazz, improvisation, composition, music theory, Cubase and FL Studio.
