About Katharine
I am a professional portrait artist (people and animals) with a separate career in the film industry as a costumer. I've taught and assisted in children to adults art classes for seven years, and went to an arts highschool and university.

I teach by starting off with basics and building up, but letting the students apply the concepts in a way that interests and makes sense to them. Too much structure (as in you HAVE to draw exactly the same thing as everyone else) just discourages learning, so in my classes we apply all the learning concepts to subject material that interests the students but also furthers their understanding of the craft. I help and guide and show examples that clearly illustrate what we are learning that lesson.
