About Laura
Laura has been playing the trumpet for over twenty years and has freelanced professionally with a broad range of ensembles including the APO, ACO, MSO, Blackbird Ensemble, Orchestra Auckland, as a soloist with the ASO and for shows and recordings such as Synthony and The Global Choir Project.
She completed a Bachelor of Classical Performance Music at The University of Auckland School of Music in 2011 under Victor Silverstone, Brent Grapes and Huw Dann before completing further training in performance and pedagogy at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark under Kristian Steenstrup and Reinhold Frederich. The Edgar Brass Award was awarded to her at the 2014 Gisborne International Music Competition for her solo recital.

Courses for all ages in: beginner-advanced trumpet/cornet/other brass, beginner-intermediate keyboard/ukulele
beginner-advanced general music training (reading, history, theory, ear/vocal, musical appreciation, broad overview of instruments, lots of fun, etc.)
Laura has vast experience teaching music privately and at schools all across Auckland, focusing mostly on trumpet and small group ensembles of all genres. She is self-taught on the Ukulele, Guitar, Keyboard and Drums and loves nothing more than to experience the joy of making, listening and dancing to music with other human-animals.
She loves to incorporate and harness the beauty and individuality of each student's natural instrument, their body and their voice, to translate movement, breath and inner song into musical expression and understanding. Most importantly Laura strives to create safe spaces to allow for freedom of expression and LOTS of fun. She firmly believes that everybody has music within them and that the journey to find it is a trip not to be missed!
