About Wren

I am a passionate Saxophone tutor with 13 years of experience, having guided around 150 students at various stages of learning. I enjoy teaching students who are new to music as well as those looking to refine their skills.

My tutoring approach is supportive, patient, and goal-oriented. I guide students through proper breathing, tone production, finger technique, rhythm practice, and musical expression. Lessons are paced carefully to ensure students feel comfortable and confident.

I adapt my teaching methods based on student progress and feedback. I also help students understand how to practise effectively and stay motivated over time.

My unique strength is my ability to support students emotionally and musically, especially during challenging phases. My aim is to help students become confident, disciplined, and expressive saxophone players.

About the lesson

I teach saxophone using a student-centred methodology that emphasises flexibility, collaboration, and encouragement. Each student has a unique learning style, and I adapt lessons to match their individual pace, preferences, and goals, making learning both effective and enjoyable.

Flexibility allows me to modify exercises, repertoire, and lesson plans according to progress and motivation, keeping students inspired and engaged. Collaboration is integral: students contribute ideas, explore improvisation, and actively participate in shaping their lessons, developing both technical skill and creativity.

I maintain a positive and motivating environment where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities and achievements are celebrated. Lessons cover saxophone technique, musical interpretation, improvisation, performance skills, and theory, ensuring students develop a well-rounded understanding of music.

Beyond saxophone, I teach related subjects such as music theory, ensemble playing, sight-reading, and ear training. My philosophy is to help students become confident, expressive, and passionate musicians.
