About Nate
As a performer, I've had the opportunity to tour internationally, share stages with the likes of Talib Kweli, Fleet Foxes, Cake, Anais Mitchell, GARTH., George Watsky, and more, and record drums on hundreds of tracks in a wide array of genres. I continue to perform and record regularly, both as a session musician and as a member of the Massachusetts-based indie-folk band Cloudbelly.
As an educator, it's been my privilege to work with students of all ages, both privately and at acclaimed institutions such as Northfield Mount Hermon, Deerfield Academy, Greens Farms Academy, and more. Many of my students have continued their studies through the collegiate level and have begun professional careers of their own.

Every learner brings a different set of experiences, interests, and objectives to drum lessons. It's my job as a tutor to facilitate a course of study that meets them where they are, engages those interests, and provides the essential technical and musical roadmap towards achieving their goals. I offer lessons to students of all ages, and as such, there is a great deal of variety in what a typical lesson looks like: For beginning students, our work is often a balance between introduction to the essential rudimental building blocks of drumming and initial experimentation/familiarization with performing the drums, both solo and along to music. For students who are further along in their musical journeys, lessons often combine more intense technical refinement work with in-depth genre study and extensive listening and interpretation of drum performances by key musicians working in the genres of interest. For students with facility reading musical notation (or an interest in learning), I will often incorporate transcriptions and book work from a variety of texts into our study, but others prefer to work primarily by ear, which I am also always happy to prioritize. Regardless, my primary goal as a tutor is to help foster a lifelong love of the drums, and an understanding of how to continue cultivating that passion even after our lessons have ended.
