About Moses

Hello! I'm a Certified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) educator with over six years of experience supporting children with autism and other developmental needs. I specialize in speech and language intervention for non-verbal and minimally verbal children, using evidence-based, child-centered approaches that promote functional communication and meaningful progress. I hold professional certifications in Special Education, TEFL, and specialized training from the Clerc Center at Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C., in expressive language development. My approach is patient, compassionate, and tailored to each child's unique strengths, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with parents to ensure skills learned during therapy are reinforced in everyday life. My goal is to help every child find their voice whether through speech, signs, gestures, or alternative communication methods and empower them to communicate with confidence and independence.

About the lesson

Every child communicates differently, and my goal is to help your child develop meaningful communication skills in a supportive, engaging, and child-centered environment. These one-on-one speech and language therapy sessions are specifically designed for non-verbal children, minimally verbal children, and children on the Autism Spectrum.

Each lesson begins with understanding your child's current communication abilities, interests, strengths, and challenges. Based on this, I create a personalized intervention plan using evidence-based strategies that encourage functional communication and language development.

During our sessions, we'll work on:

* Developing pre-verbal communication skills such as eye contact, joint attention, turn-taking, and imitation.
* Encouraging functional communication through gestures, signs, pictures (AAC/PECS where appropriate), or spoken language.
* Increasing receptive language (understanding instructions, identifying objects, following directions).
* Building expressive language by encouraging requests, labeling, commenting, and answering simple questions.
* Improving speech clarity, sound production, and oral-motor awareness when appropriate.
* Enhancing social communication skills, including interaction, play, and conversation.
* Reducing communication frustration by teaching effective ways for your child to express their wants and needs.

My therapy approach combines structured learning with play-based activities, visual supports, positive reinforcement, and parent involvement to maximize progress beyond our sessions. Parents receive practical strategies and home activities that can be incorporated into everyday routines, helping children practice and generalize their communication skills in natural environments.

Every lesson is individualized because no two children are the same. Whether your child is beginning their communication journey or needs additional support to build language skills, my focus is always on helping them make meaningful, measurable progress at a pace that suits their unique needs.
