About Julie Patricia

I have been teaching English across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 in state schools throughout London for the past 14 years. With funding cuts and increasing class sizes, I see daily the detrimental effect this has on personalised learning; it's simply not possible for classroom teachers to consistently and effectively address the individual needs of each child each lesson. While the best teachers strive to stretch and support all children in their care, sadly far too many children are being left behind - or not pushed enough - and fail to reach their full potential.

This is where one-to-one tuition plays a vital role in ensuring your child achieves the best grades they can, in a supportive learning environment personalised to their needs. For me, the best teaching derives from knowing your students: where they are most confident, and which skills need development, or indeed outright learning. I know that a skills-based approach, using resources that are relevant to the student, is conducive to the best results. If a child is engaged with the material, and more importantly, understands the relevance of the skills in relation to the learning as a whole, they will ultimately be equipped to approach their exams with the confidence they need to succeed.

English is all about learning how to be a better communicator; it's about acquiring the ability to think independently and critically allowing the communicator to evaluate situations and make well-judged decisions. English is not just a core subject desired by colleges and employers alike; it encompasses a skill-set that when learnt and perfected, allows the individual to thrive in any environment, any career-path, any relationship. Let me help build your child's confidence - and consequently improve their performance - in their English education; it's my passion!
