About Julia

I have been a proud piano teacher for over 5 years. I have worked with many amazing students along the way. As a SEND experienced educator, I ensure all students feel supported.

Lessons are always structured to be inclusive of improvisation, expressive playing, composition, theory, and an array of genres that are of interest. During my time teaching, I have also learnt a great deal from my own students, and I endeavour to keep doing so. Knowledge is a shared journey!

I have had the joy of supporting students through ABRSM examinations, Music Aptitude Tests, and also teaching students who wanted to learn piano for fun.

My own experience as a musician has been a very versatile one! From training extensively in classical, performing as an accompanist, playing in orchestras, performing and reading charts with a big band, all the way to playing live gigs in pop and rock - I’ve had a vast amount of experience in many areas. They have all been adventures that I cherish.

About the lesson

A typical lesson will be 30 mins and it is a relaxed environment for you to really get the most out of your lesson.

I teach beginners to advanced, and my lessons are for all ages! It is never too late to start learning a new instrument!

What I can Provide:

With classical training and multi-instrumental experience, I can support you through:

• Practical examinations (grade 1 - 6) through ABRSM.
• Music theory examinations (grade 1 - 5) through ABRSM.
• Tailored preparation for school entrance examinations.
• Engaging lessons designed for you and your learning goals.

My Teaching Approach:

I provide a holistic teaching environment for my students. Music is not based solely on the instrument but the areas surrounding it, we will focus on:

• The theory of music
• Technical skills
• Expression through both intuition and theoretical knowledge
• And, of course, learning how to play piano utilising the above skills

I facilitate a space for curiosity to provide a deeper learning experience to expand your musical knowledge, expression, and confidence.

Formal Qualifications:

• Piano ABRSM - Grades 1 - 6 (Ongoing)
• Music Theory ABRSM Grade 5
• Violin ABRSM - Grades 1 - 5
• BA (Hons) - Popular Music
