About Shreeja
Hi, I'm Shreeja — I started coding at 12 as a self-taught programmer, and I've been hooked ever since. I love turning ideas into real systems, which has led me into software engineering, AI research, and — naturally — teaching others how to do the same.
I'm currently a Stanford CS106A (Python) Section Leader and an intern at Morgan Stanley's Enterprise Computing & Data Analytics team in New York City, where I build and deploy production software systems used at scale.
I've led AI research at UMass Amherst, published a peer-reviewed blockchain study in a George Mason University research journal, and earned merit-based scholarships and recognition from AWS ($4K), Harvard ($1K), and Google. I've interned at the NJ Cybersecurity & Communications Integration Cell, conducted quantum ML research alongside the US Naval Nuclear Laboratory, and built full-stack production applications for enterprise clients including The New York Times.
I've tutored students across a wide range of ages, skill levels, and backgrounds — from middle schoolers just starting out to working professionals making a career switch. I've also been selected for programs like the MIT Beavers Autonomous RACECAR course, which gives me a real appreciation for how rigorous technical curricula are structured and how to make them accessible. Every student learns differently, and I tailor every session accordingly. My goal is always the same: make the concept click, build confidence, and leave you genuinely better than when we started.

Why I'm the right tutor for Python specifically:
Python is the language I use most. At Morgan Stanley, I’ve built multiple Python-based database libraries, taking them from development through the full lifecycle, including CI/CD and deployment. At UMass Amherst, I developed a PCA-based credit card fraud detection model and a multimodal Parkinson’s detection system—both implemented in Python. I also hold an AWS AI & ML Nanodegree (covering Python, NumPy, PyTorch, and LLMs) and a Google Advanced Data Analytics certification (covering machine learning, feature engineering, EDA, and hypothesis testing), both earned through merit-based selection. In addition, Stanford’s CS106A, which I teach, is a Python-first course.

What we cover:
1. Python from absolute zero — variables, loops, functions, data structures, explained with no assumed knowledge
2. Coding logic and problem-solving mindset — not just memorizing syntax but thinking like a programmer
3. Real projects at every stage: calculators, games, web scrapers, data dashboards — something you can show people
4. Data science toolkit: Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn — cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing real datasets
5. Automation: file handling, working with APIs, web scraping with BeautifulSoup & Requests
6. Intro to ML: training and evaluating your first models with Scikit-Learn
7. Clean code habits, debugging strategies, and writing code that other people can read
8. AP/IB Computer Science or College Python prep if needed

I learned under Shreeja while taking Stanford’s CS106A through Code in Place, and she made the experience phenomenal. She consistently went above and beyond—once even staying 30 minutes over time after class just to help me and another student with a coding problem. Her dedication and way with words while explaining complex ideas helped me grow a lot. I’d strongly recommend her to any student.
