Engaging pupils is definitely at the heart of my teaching ethos. Getting my class engaged and motivated was a huge challenge at my previous school as there were a lot of reluctant learners. I have developed creative methods of inspiring the children to learn by making my lessons engaging: transforming my classroom into a murder scene for a ‘CSI Meynell’ science investigation; used special FX apps to make a video of a beanstalk erupting out of the school playground; re-enacted the story of Robin Hood in the trees amongst many other examples to get my pupils excited and motivated for their learning. I am able to pull on my performance history and the creative industry that I previously worked in to aid my lessons and fully engage the children.
