About Vera
Olá!
I am a qualified European Portuguese teacher. I hold a BA(hons) in Portuguese and English studies from the University of Coimbra(Portugal) and I have been teaching for 14 years. I have taught students of all ages and abilities and I am really passionate about teaching languages. It is a real pleasure for me to see the development of my students` language skills.

My method
Generally, my lessons cover the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Nonetheless, I favour the communicative approach and I focus a lot on developing my students' speaking and listening skills. Grammar is taught in context, allowing learners to see how grammar rules can be used in speech. My method is student-centered so I plan and arrange classes differently to fit students' needs. I have a wide variety of teaching resources and I try to keep my lessons as engaging as possible. My enthusiasm for teaching and my ability to motivate students are an essential part of my method.
Each student has a different way of learning or wants to learn the language for a specific purpose, so it's really important that you let me know why do you want to learn Portuguese, if you speak any other foreign language( Spanish, French or Italian), if you want to focus on writing, speaking, understanding or all three, if you have a deadline to be fluent in Portuguese, how many lessons per week are you willing to take.
